My 1000th Letterbox
Terrain Difficulty: Easy (slight slope, 0.5 mile RT)
Recommended Ink: cyan
Status: alive
When I first discovered letterboxing in 2002 I was intrigued by the treasure hunting aspect of it and just assumed I would never place any boxes of my own since I have very little artistic ability. However, I discovered that carving stamps was possible for me and though not great at it, I was good enough to enjoy it. Soon I was placing boxes all over Texas to lure others into the hobby, then all over the world to lure people to special places they might not know about. Placing boxes in new places eventually became my favorite aspect of letterboxing, and so for my 1000th box I hope to lure you to Bauerle Ranch Park.
Directions:
From I35 go west on Slaughter Ln for 2.3 miles, left on Manchaca Rd for 0.8 mile, right on Old Manchaca Rd then immediate left on Lynnbrook Dr for 0.8 mile. Just past Bauerle Ranch Amenity Center turn left on Percy Springs Dr and park at end of cul de sac.
Clues:
Walk past fence onto Percy Springs Trail to jct and go left 35 steps to a Y jct. Bear left on Coyote Run Trail for 190 steps to a tall dead tree on right and just before a dead tree on left with branch hanging over trail. Go left off trail 13 steps to medium oak tree with LB at back base under a rock, sticks & leaves.
Hike length: 0.5 miles
