This series is planted at the Reed - Mitchell Preserve of the Avalonia Land Conservancy located at 371 NW Corner Road, North Stonington, CT. Start on the blue trail. At the corner of the first stone wall on your right (you haven't gone very far!), you will find Box #1 - EXPLORE - hidden in the cave at the base of the large stone, which is standing up (looks sort of like a gravestone) - continue on blue. Keep a look out for the tire behind the stone wall leaning against the tree on your left, before you turn the corner. You will find SOAR - Box 3 - with the log book hidden behind a stone door behind the tire and covered with bark. Wyatt planted Box 3 on his way back as he decided that location was the best, so that is why it is out of order. Continue on blue until you come to the tree with the trail blazed arrows pointing to blue and to the red trail on the right - the second red blaze (not the first one you come to). Wyatt took the red trail, so turn right on red. When you come to the wooden sign on the tree that points to the Brook, take this trail to the edge of the pretty brook. As you are standing at the brook, look to your left and see the extremely large moss covered boulder in front of a tree. Look in the cave under the boulder and Box 2 - HIKE ON - will be there waiting for you covered in bark. Wyatt recommends that you turn around the way you came and continue your hike on the blue trail. He continued on the red trail and became very lost because it was overgrown and very poorly marked. There is a nice pond and some scenic views on this very quiet preserve. If you have trouble finding these boxes, let us know, and we will revise the clues. There is ink in the boxes, but will not guarantee how moist they are. Feel free to use your ink - any color or colors will work on these stamps! Wyatt is a member of Dog Scout Troop 219 and planted these boxes as a part of the requirement for the Letterbox Dog Excellent Title. To learn more about dog scouts, please visit dogscouts.org. Wyatt has learned to be obedient and friendly on the trails and to not chase wildlife as a dog scout. HAPPY HUNTING.
