Exner Marsh Conservation Area
9000 N Lakewood Rd, Lake in the Hills, IL 60156

History:
This box was planted in honor of Girl Scout Troop 913 in Huntley, IL May 2020. We have twelve 4th graders in their first year of Juniors. Due to the pandemic and social distancing recommendations, letterboxing is the perfect activity to get outside. Currently, we are working on our detective 🕵️‍♀️ badge and so some hunting for letterboxes will be the perfect activity to complete one of the badge requirements. To start us off, 2 boxes were hidden by the troop leaders with the help of some scouts and their friends.
This box contains a stamp symbol of one of the GS Crest choices. The meaning is as follows: xxxxxx stands for loving thoughts and special friendships. This symbol could show the bonds you have with all your Girl Scout sisters. ƒ Hmm, what is it?

Remember: Bring your own stamp, ink pad, and pen. A compass would be helpful to guide you with directions but is not required. Do not let others see where you find or return the box. (Return it to the same location where found) When done stamping, please make sure to return the items to the baggies so that water doesn’t destroy them. Discreetly return the box to its hiding place and conceal it well.

Clues:
To search for the box:
Enter the Marsh from Lakewood. Park in any spot. Locate the restrooms! They were locked due to Covid-19 when I planted so hopefully you won’t have to go. Find the Grassy path that is to the West of the restrooms and information sign. Follow that path North. When you come to a crossroads, go East. Walk forward about 202 10-year-old steps. You should be near another crossroads.
Look -.. --- .-- -. for the
-... --- ..- .-.. -.. . .-.. You will find it there.
The mysterious words can be deciphered using Morse Code. Have fun!
I do not recommend going to this one if it has rained hard in the last day or two. Bug spray needed at dusk or later.
