Draco dormiens nunquam titillandus

Note: These are relatively large stamps, some being about 3x4 inches.

UPDATE: Just as Hogwarts Castle tends to change its configuration, Mother Nature forced me to make a little change; the Gryffindor box has been moved!

As you enter the park you will pass a sports complex of buildings and athletic fields. You’ll drive past these to where the road ends with parking lots on your left designated as ‘Bowie Playhouse Parking’; park in these lots. Pulling into the lots you should see a chain link fence around an athletic field (I believe it changes depending on the season). In the distance past the chain link fence you’ll see a white post fence. Turn to your right and you’ll see a couple of paths; one leads out of the lot bending to the right – which you’ll ignore – and another one a little further away that will take you toward that post fence. Get on that path heading toward that fence. You’ll pass a small playground and you’ll see the trail that goes past a pavilion. Take that trail into the woods. You’ll come to an intersection with a trail marker post that has two arrows, red points right, blue points left. You’ll go left here; the trail will quickly fork so stay to the left (in the distance you might see another blue trail marker). The trail turns to the right, then straightens out for a while then bending again to the right. On this bend you’ll soon see a blue trail marker. When you reach the marker, stop and turn to your right. Off of the trail you’ll see a small tree surrounded by 4 larger trees. Behind the small tree you’ll find The Sorting Hat.

Back out on the trail, continue in the direction you were going and you’ll arrive back at the intersection you encountered earlier (you might be able to see the pavilion in the distance); turn left. You’ll come to another fork, with the left arm going through a clearing and the right going toward the playground; go left through the clearing. You may lose the trail on the far side of the clearing but don’t worry, it comes out at a paved path (called the Bike Trail). When you reach this path, turn left heading downhill. You’ll soon see a wooden trail marker on your right, and another one in the distance also on the right. The second maker is for a trail that heads off to the right of the paved trail; take this trail (you should walk past a short, black stump). Keep on the lookout on your right for a tree of two trunks; the smaller of the two is behind the larger one, and grows in an unusual zig-zag going up to a short bend to the left, then up again to a second bend to the left, then up again (remind you of a familiar scar?). Behind this tree is Gryffindor.

Back on the trail, go back the way you came and cross both bridges; just after crossing the second there is a trail marker on your left that one trail goes up a hill into the woods. Follow this trail until it comes to a T intersection, where you’ll turn left. Look off the trail to the right for a large, thoroughly decayed, downed tree. Continue on, still looking to the right for a grouping of 3 trees; two are very close together while a smaller tree is in front of them. With this group on your left, look up into the woods and you’ll see another pair of trees that are also growing very closely together, about 26 steps away. Go to this pair of trees; one has “RB –N– GH 5-28-00” carved into the trunk. Between these two trees is Slytherin.

Back out on the trail and continue the way you were going. You’ll see a tree that has fallen across the trail which has been cut so the trail goes through the cut sections. Look to the right and you’ll see another downed tree parallel to the trail. Behind this tree, near the root end, you’ll find Ravenclaw.

Back out on the trail and continue the way you were going. At one point you’ll find yourself passing through a sort of gully. Continue on until you see another tree that has fallen across the trail and has been cut (there will be several log sections nearby, mostly to the right). Look to your left a cluster of trees; three large trees, arranged in a triangle, with three much smaller trees (one of which is a holly tree) in front of them; another tree has fallen between the larger trees. Behind and beneath this fallen tree is Hufflepuff.

Back out on the trail and continue the way you were going until you reach the Campfire Area. Cut through it, pass between the picnic tables on the far side and go about 25 steps into the woods. You’ll two trees close together, one of which as a large opening in the base. Between these two trees is Hogwarts.

Head back through the Campfire Area and you’ll see a building and a parking lot. Keeping the building on your left, go through the parking lot until you see a paved path; this well take you back to the lot you parked in.
