Great hike to Sawtooth Lake, and views of alpine lake on the way. Box is at Sawtooth Lake.
Directions:
From Stanley, go east on Hwy 21 a few miles. Turn left on FR 619 (Iron Creek rd), and go to parking area on right near end of road.
To the Letterbox:
Start at the Iron Creek trailhead kiosk. Complete Wilderness permit, then start your hike to Sawtooth Lake. Continue straight at junctions. The cutoff to Alpine lake is not marked, but main trail goes up, so stay with it to go to Sawtooth Lake. You will climb about Alpine lake, looking left down on it. Eventually the trail leaved Alpine and heads on to Sawtooth Lake. You will pass a small lake, then arrive at Sawtooth Lake. Just before the lake you reach a signed junction. See where the sign points to Iron Creek Junction, follow that arrow direction to the 1st small tree it is pointing toward. Box is in middle of that tree clump, under a rock pile.
