In 1959, Tex Randall began life in Canyon as the "Biggest Texan". The 47', seven-ton slouching cowboy was built of cement and steel by William "Harry" Wheeler, a high school shop teacher, for Wheeler's Western Store on US 60. Eventually, the store went out of business and the statue fell into disrepair. In 1987 he was refurbished and given the new name of "Tex Randall", in honor of his home in Randall County. By 2013 he had grown shabby again and was saved by TXDOT, who built a park around him, completed in 2016. Although Sam Houston is now the "Biggest Texan", Tex Randall has lassoed the hearts of his hometown and his namesake state, and you can find the box dedicated to him in his park.

Directions:
Go east on N 3rd Ave just past N 14th St. and turn right into parking lot for Tex Randall.

Clues:
Walk away from Tex to the fence with stone pillars. Go to the second pillar from the left and look behind an evergreen bush just to the left. LB is buried under leaves.
