This lovely small preserve is located near the Old Lyme Inn just off the freeway. There is parking for 3 to 4 cars. These stamps were taken to Wakeda 2023 where Wyatt was in attendance so if you attended that event you may already have these stamps. Wyatt crossed the rainbow bridge on 8-23-23 and these stamps are planted in his memory. His birthday was December 26th - so Christmas was always special and we always went on a birthday boy hike no matter the weather.
Travel on RED. You will see a BLUE trail to your right with a foundation. Feel free to explore it but the stamp is not there. Pass by the blue trail and stay on red. Look for a large tree to your LEFT that is one trunk but branches out into two big arms. Box 1 is tucked in a hole behind this tree covered with bark and leaves. Please use BROWN ink. If you get to the next red marker you have gone too far. It is between the blue/red intersection and the next red marker on the left. Keep going on RED and enjoy the dam - fish ladder. Just past this beautiful scene you will eventually see sort of a moss covered clearing on the RIGHT. This area drops down into sort of a crater or pit and there are little trails that go down. There is a large three sister tree not too far from the trail. Box 2 is nestled inside the arms of this 3-sister tree. Keep going on red until you come to YELLOW. Travel up the hill to the scenic overlook. Look for the elbow tree on your right with the yellow marker. Beyond this tree is a large tree with tangled roots next to a boulder. You will find Box 3 there. Please use red or green. Sit on the bench and enjoy the view and the rest of this beautiful peaceful preserve. Wyatt never hiked here. He would have liked it here. If you have trouble with the clues, message me and I will modify. Happy hiking.
