This letterbox is located in the upper Paugussett state forest in Newtown allongside lake Lillinonah, just upstream from the Shepaug dam.
Go to the end of Echovally Rd., keep triangle with well on your right, look for official state sign to parking area, on a narow unpaved road. Study map posted on info board in parking area. Follow jeep trail on foot or mountain bike for 1.4 km...in a northerly direction till main trail takes a left hand bend westward. There is a large clearing and logging going on. Straight off, at apex of bend, look for small white blazed [ faint] foot trail going north. Be alert to right hand turn about 120 m from jeep trail. Follow this white trail all the way , goes up a bit, to large oak tree with letterbox. This is junction with blue trail. This box is maintained by the Newtown Forest Ass'n and friends of the C. H. Booth library.
This however is not the "official" letterbox,To find my box, take a bearing of 285 degrees from big oak and walk 22 paces or 110 feet to a pile of rocks. A first to find surprize awaits you. Please rehide carfully. Contact me with any comments.
