NOTE: This park was at least partially consumed by fire in March '07. I don't yet know the status of the boxes (or the park, for that matter as it is closed for clean up/repair). Because of the reported location of the fire in the park, I would expect that at least two of the boxes are now gone.

I checked on the park on 12-27-07. 2/3 of it is closed because of the fire. Boxes 1 and 2 lie in the closed section. I would expect that at least one of them is burnt to a crisp! Box #3 is missing again. At this point, I am retiring the series. I hope someone else will plant in this park, as it is a very special place. The caretaker said they plan to reopen all of the park in July 2007.

***A special thank you to Ipako who made a special effort to replace box #3 when it went missing, even relocating it to a better spot and sending me new clues. It's back in action as of 9-8-06.***

Stamps are kind of primative as I'm new to letterboxing and stamp carving!

Please be discrete and rehide carefully. This is a busy place!

Be aware that this park does not allow pets. Please leave Fido at home, not in your car!

Start your quest at this little bit of wilderness in the city, Wilderness Park. As you enter the park turn left toward the day camp pond. Stay to the right of the pond as you check out the turtles and ducks that make the pond home. Cross the creek on the rocks and turn right to follow it upstream. At the stump turn left and go under the pine trees to the bathrooms. Then go up 11 steps, across and down 37 steps. Turn left at the top of the amphitheatre and right just past the Coast Redwood tree. Go past the creek, past the Cotoneaster tree and down 22 stairs. Go clockwise around the lower pond.

Stage #1
Stop for a drink as you go around the pond. Look to your right. See a tree with many trunks where the drainage ditch goes under the fence? Look under the leaves between the trunks for your prize.

Stage #2
Continue on the path around the pond and up the hill to the fork in the trail, below the amphitheatre, turn left. See the Evergreen Ash tree on the left? Go 30 steps past it and look for a log under a bush on your right. Under the log, on the end closest to the trail is your prize.

Stage #3
Continue once more on your path. At the junction with the bench turn left. Go past the BBQ site and to the left of the bathrooms. Head towards the appartment building outside the park. Look for the Eucalyptus tree (in the park) closest to the northwestern corner of the building. Underneath the tree is a forked log. Your prize is burried under a pile of bark, below the fork of the log.

Please contact me with the status of these boxes. I live out of state so I won't be able to check on them often.
