In celebration of my 34th birthday and thanks to the January 2007 issue of "Arizona Highways" I convinced my husband, aunt, and uncle to take the "Back Road Adventure" as described in the magazine. Finding everything except the Dixie Mine rusted tank we enjoyed this Sunday drive. Moving along at a turtle's pace we completed the journey in about 12 hours.

To the box:
Take interstate 10 to exit 112, Buckeye, turn south onto State Road 85 and drive 5 miles to Hazen Road (also marked Old US Highway 80). Turn right (west) and follow the road to Hassayampa. After passing through Hassayampa begin looking for mile marker 33, slow down. On your right you will see a yellow left T sign “319th Ave” park in front of the sign. From the sign walk 8 steps towards the barbed wire fence. Turn to your left and walk 8 more steps along the fence to a cresote bush. The tortoise is located to the left of the bush under a pile of rocks. Please rehide the box so it cannot be seen from any direction.

I wont be able to check on this box often, please let me know of its condition.
