This is a short walk and an easy, 10 minute find. However, the beautiful Trans Canada Trail goes for 6 km, and is a very nice, scenic walk, if you're out with your dog or family. Off leash area extends up to the park entrance.

In Medicine Hat there are quite a few nice parks where you can take your dog for a run either on leash or off. One of these is Police Point Park. To get to this geocache/letterbox hybrid, you will use Parkview Close to get near the trail. This is a residential street adjacent to the South Saskatchewan River. Find it south of the Medicine Hat Golf and Country Club. Enter Parkview Close near the intersection of Altawana Drive and Parkview Drive NE. Go to the end of the cul-de-sac and park. You will see two entrance gates (baracaded). Take the one on the right (south) side. Find the small trail to the right of this entrance. Go 9 paces from the gate on this path. You will see a 4 x 4 eight-foot high brown park sign post (it used to say Trans Canada Trail).

From the post you will find at N 50 02.831; W 110 40.294, take the paved trail going southwest down a hill. You will go 44 of Hoser7's steps, which are 30" strides. You'll go past the end of the fence on the left, and continue around the bend to a prominent crack in the pavement going approximately east-west. Two paces past this crack, you will turn 325 degrees and go into the woods (there is a deer trail right across the pathway, leading down to the river). Eight steps from the center of the trail, you will find a dead log. Under the North side of this log you will find the letterbox nesteled under branches and leaves. Do not remove any items from the letterbox. The log book, pencil, and skull and crossbones stamp remain in the box for the next finder to use to stamp in with.

Please replace the box carefully, hiding it from view. Remember, if you are a geocacher, just sign the log book, as there is nothing in this letterbox for you to take. Hopefully, we can get some geocachers interested in Letterboxing by having them find some letterboxes in the area. Letterboxers, stamp in with your personal stamps, and use the Pirate Stash #1" stamp to record your find in your log books. Place everything back in the box and zip-loc baggie, and replace it carefully. Thank you for caching/boxing with DogIsMyCoPirate and Hoser7. If you find the box damaged or missing, please contact DogIsMyCoPirate at lonnie@dogscouts.com or our local box "guardian", Hoser7 at joster@memlane.com.
