Horseshoe Canoe is the first letterbox my oldest has made and planted. She carved it and I let her choose the location it was planted in. Be aware that when you look for this box you must be careful. There are lots of snakes in this area. Having said that, the history of this stamp is to celebrate our many trips in our kayak down this river. It is one of our favorite spots in Alabama. If you have time, go check out the Horseshoe Bend Military Park. It gives information about the Battle of Horseshoe Bend inside the museum then you can take a sobering drive thru the rest of the park. Anyways…enjoy the area.

Horseshoe Canoe is located near the Horseshoe Bend Military Park. Just over the bridge crossing the Tallapoosa River (if you are coming from the town of Newsite) is a boat launch. Turn right and go down to the parking lot of the boat launch. Looking to your left you will see old bridge pylons where the old bridge once was. Horseshoe Canoe is located behind the pylon closest to the river on the side facing the wooded area.
