Our Girl Scout Troop prepared this letterbox for you when we visited Griffith Park Observatory. It is a great place to visit. You can start a hike from the observatory to view the Hollywood sign. Or you can see an amazing view of the city. Of course, the telescopes and the observatory museum are not to be missed. Once a month, the observatory has a special event where the museum is free and telescopes are places all over the lawn to view all the visible planets, the moon, constellations. It is spectacular. Come well before sunset to find the letterbox, enjoy the view and the stars.

Our Girl Scout Troop is made up of Daisies and Brownies, 5-8 year olds. Many of them are just getting started with letterboxing.

Our troop came to the observatory to earn their Starry Skies patch and wanted others to see how amazing it is to see the night sky up close.

STARRY SKIES LETTERBOX CLUES:

Make your way to the entrance of the Observatory.
Go east to the winding stairs up to the largest telescope.
Face North.
Take 42 heel to toe steps (the size of little feet) going North-East.
Look for something green.
Don’t forget to look up.
You are here to see the stars, and to find a letterbox.

(Note: We are Girl Scouts. We would not have you go far off trail. So it will be hidden somewhere that is safe.)

Hike length: 0.5 miles
