John Robert "Red" Murff was born in 1921 in Burlington, TX and started his professional baseball career as a pitcher playing in the Texas League, winning Minor League player of the Year in 1955. The next year he moved up to the Major Leagues, playing for the Milwaukee Braves for two years as a relief pitcher. After retiring as a player, Murff was a scout with the New York Mets and is credited with discovering Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan. He was inducted into the Texas Baseball Hall of Fame in 1989. He died in 2008 and is buried in Odd Fellows (IOOF) Cemetery, where this box can be found.

Directions:
From US 79 go north on N. Main for 0.6 mi then left into first entrance of Odd Fellows Cemetery and park by Galban grave on right.

Clues:
Walk to stone bench just beyond Galban stone and go right 8 steps to a large crepe myrtle next to a concrete border. LB is within trunks under leaves.
