CHESHIRE CAMPOREE 2004 COMMEMORATIVE BOX
Planted by two scout leaders, Bluebird and her sister-in-law, LeBabe, on August 26, 2004. Logbook replaced 7/2010; stamp needs re-gluing (sorry!).
This box was planted in honor of the Cheshire Camporee 2004, held at Camp Anseox last spring, at which many Cheshire Girl Scouts learned about letterboxing. We hope this box and others at Riverbound Farm will encourage scouts to keep on letterboxing!
The location is Riverbound Farm Nature Sanctuary at 1881 Cheshire Road in Cheshire, CT. The walk is level, flat, and on a less-than-one-mile loop. Two other published boxes and one scout box are nearby in the park.
Check out the map on your way in, and get a printed one, if available. Take the blue trail to orange (blazes have faded and we hope they will re-do them soon; maybe a troop could volunteer!). Pass the stone wall, go through “the twins” (see map), pass a bench and look for a vine-covered “witch tree” on the right side of the trail just before a small stream crossing. Behind one of the trees downed branches you will find the commemorative box, under bark. Please re-hide it well.
