This box will be placed in the prayer garden of St. Clement Pope and Martyr Church on Mount Hope in Rockaway. It's on the border of Dover, NJ, so it may actually technically lie in Dover.

My mother passed away four years ago today of breast cancer. There is a breast cancer letterbox for her at her gravesite, but this church was our home parish, and where we went to church every week since we moved to Rockaway in 1989.

Please be discreet and rehide it WELL. If you go on Sunday, please wait until masses are over for the day. The church doesn't know about it.

My mother was very Catholic. She had such strong faith in God that she told our priest that when God carried her through this, she wanted to tell everyone she knew about the healing power of prayer and faith. It was not to be, but I know that the reason that she lived as long as shed did (twelve years!) was her undaunted courage, determination, and unwavering faith in God.

The Courage that My Mother Had
by Edna St. Vincent Millay

The Courage that my mother had
Went went her and is with her still.
Rock from New England quarried,
Now granite in a granite hill.

The golden brooch my mother wore
She left behind for me to wear;
I have no thing I treasure more,
Yet, it is something I could spare.

Oh, if instead she'd left me
The thing she took into the grave!
That courage like a rock, whch she
Has no more need of and I have.

Enter the church parking lot and go around the circle. That circle is the prayer garden. The box lies in here. Enter the garden under the white archway, straight past the welcome sign. Take eight steps past the start of Reverend Connolly's bench. Look to your right for a flat orange rock. Under its ledge is the box.
