Difficulty: Easy, Drive-by.
Take 191 north out of Moab and drive about 2 miles to Hwy. 128. It is the right turn just before hwy.191 crosses the Colorado River. The river will be on your left when you're on 128. Welcome to the Colorado River Recreation Area. Drive down the road until just after mile marker 1 and look for the first big pull-out to the left. There is a sign on the highway that points here for the Colorado Riverway Regulations. Turn into the pull-out and notice the big kiosk that tells all the regulations of this area. Next to the kiosk are three plaques that tell about different things.
Find the sign that goes with this box. After reading about these guys, turn to your left. Walk straight ahead about 32 steps to the edge of the cliff. Turn left and walk along the edge for about 15 steps. There should be a crack dividing the rocks right in front of you. Follow that crack down to the right and climb down to the ledge right below the crack. Walk about 5 steps along this edge. Look for a SPOR about waist high in a long crack in the rocks on your right.
Have fun and good luck! Watch for cryptobiotic soil, as always!
