Upon visiting two fun boxes “Ticaboo & Lulu’s Day Out” planted by Kat during the Moab Box on the Rocks gathering I decided to place a box in-between the location of her two boxes. Several Letterboxers from the gathering have signed into the journal but the first finder artifact is waiting for the “real” first finder.
Heading out of Moab to the North on 194 turn left before reaching the Arches National Park. Continue down this road past the wall climbers, past the “Indian Writing” signs and past the Gold Bar Rec. Watch for a pullout on the right with a giant silver pipe in the middle of a hill.
Park and head straight through the pipe to the little valley on the other side. Start your trek up the canyon following the dry creek bed and sandy hiking path. The trail is a mixture of both. As you make a sharp bend in the path on you’re way up look to your left and there are two giant boulders resting upon one and other. If you reach the watering hole you have gone too far and need to back track. Slip between the opening of the two large stones and around to the left and hidden behind a small pile of rocks behind this giant stone you will find “Easy Rider Kokopelli.”
Please keep in mind that this area may not be safe if it is raining due to the potential of flash floods in the canyon. Also be careful to not disturb the Cryptobiotic soil in the area. Stay on the rocks, trails or wash bottoms.
Should you note the box missing, it’s contents in bad repair or if you just want to say hi please contace me at Blackvelvetrav@yahoo.com. Happy hunting!
