NOTICE: this box is missing. I will replace it when I get a chance!.
The box is along the northeastern side of Ironwood Forest National Monument (BLM). The road directly from Red Rock to the box is now impassable where the dirt road crosses the Santa Cruz River. So, here are directions for an easier, but some what longer, route passable by most any car. It is a nice scenic drive through the national monument. From I-10, take exit 236 and drive west on Sandario Road. Almost immediately turn right on Marana Road (there is a Circle-K and a Chevron Station at this intersection). Marana Rd. will eventually change its name to Trico Marana Road. Turn right on Silverbell Road. Bear left staying on Silverbell Rd. and cross over the single lane bridge. From where the pavement ends, continue on the dirt road for 0.4 mile and turn right. At the stop sign, turn right on Sasco Road. Drive for 1 mile to the entrance sign on the left (you will see the back side) for the Ironwood Forest National Monument and park there.
From the east end of the sign, walk at about 150 degrees (from mag. north) for about 96 steps to a large six-arm Saguaro Cactus. From that Saguaro, go at about 6 degrees for about 22 steps to a large Ironwood Tree. There is a large Barrel Cactus under the south side of this tree. The box is about 4 steps to the right of the Barrel Cactus under the east side of the Ironwood Tree behind a small Creosote Bush. It is under a flat rock covered with twigs and plant debris. Be very alert for snakes and scorpions.
Please be sure the contents are double ziplocked when you put them back in the box (i.e. the stamp is in a ziploc, the book is in a ziploc, and the two are in the larger ziploc bag). Please be sure the lid is on tight. Please rehide the box well under the rock and covered with twigs and plant debris so that it can not be seen from any direction.
I will not be able to check on this box very often, so please let me know if you find it and/or if it needs attention or is missing:
