This box is replacing 'La La Orange'. She has moved in with her friends, and will be re-hid soon! Enjoy!
Directions: From Moab, head north out of town until you come to Hwy 128. Turn right, and follow the road through the canyon. This is probably about a 25-30 minute drive. You will pass Red Cliffs Lodge. Keep going. Once you see Sorrell River Ranch, you're close. After you pass Sorrell, you will see a 35 mph sign, then the road will curve. There will be another 35 mph sign then you will drive over a cattle guard. Right after the cattle guard, there is a pullout on the right. (It comes up quick, so be prepared.)
Hint: The boulder is only .6 miles from the road. The directions below are just one way to get there, and may be confusing. As long as you head towards the boulder, you'll be fine. All you have to do is make it to the boulder.
Clues: Look south, at a lone boulder on a hill. At 'Closed Area' sign, follow trail down to the wash. Follow the wash for about .35 miles, then turn right up another wash. After about 10 steps, follow faint trail up the side of the hill. Keep climbing. You will crest 3 hills. On top of the third hill is the boulder. (Follow footprints, or head in the general direction of the boulder. There is not a marked trail, just social trails. Try no to 'bust the crust' too much.)
Once you're at the boulder, pause a moment to catch your breath and take in the spectacular view! Then walk around the boulder and took at the old petroglyphs. Walk around the boulder until you see a modern 'Bubba-glyph' that says CHLOE. Stand in front, facing Chloe. If you are 5' 7" like me, Chloe will be eye level. Look under the rock directly to your right.
Journal and handmade stamp.
