Yokena is a small community about 10 miles south of Vicksburg, Ms. It was a part of the Hyland Plantation which they called “Lucca Yokena” which is a Choctow word meaning ”Black Dirt”. The Hyland’s were a political family that were the first to settle in southern Warren County. This is where my Daddy taught me to hunt, fish, and raise a garden. He loved to hunt, and always had a pack of dogs that were so well trained that everyone wanted to be on a deer stand when his dogs were running. He hunted the woods on Ring Road, Jeff Davis Rd. and Hankinson Ferry Road. The one thing about it was, they would only run for him. I planted this box at Yokena Cemetery in his honor.

Directions:

From the intersection of highway 61 and Pemberton Square Drive, head south on 61 9.8 miles to Yokena Cemetery on the left.

To the Box:

Enter the south entrance of cemetery and park by fence post on right.
Walk to to the archway that says: Yokena Cemetery. There are two brick "houses" on each side of the arch. Facing the highway,go to the one on the right. The box is inside, in the farthest corner on the right. Please Re-hide in the same spot and cover well.
