***MISSING***
Bummer, this one is gone.

The Looney Tunes are on the loose!
They split, they ran, they jumped the caboose!
They heard about a crazy town,
Where ‘loony’ letterboxers abound.
For Columbia, Missouri they all made haste,
And hid themselves with no time to waste.
They scattered North, South, East, and West
And picked a place that suited them best.
With a playground nearby each of these spots,
There’s fun to be had by both grown-ups and tots.
Bring your own ink and a compass might aid,
An easy hike in and you’ll have it made.
Find all five characters, or only one,
But the more you find, the more the fun!
Pick any order, you get to choose…
Now enough of this rhyme…on to the clues!

DIRECTIONS/CLUES:
This character, a hungry bloke of few words, whirled his way into Columbia's west side and has taken up residence in a nice, quaint neighborhood park. It happens to be, in fact, a park in the very same neighborhood where I grew up. The park has changed quite a bit with the addition of a playground, a picnic area, and a nice gravel walking trail. I'm also sure the creek has gotten smaller - I was under the impression (when I was 10) it was a rushing river worthy of most careful exploration. But the most notable change is that this park is now host to more than one letterbox...and I'll leave it at that.

From downtown Columbia head west on Broadway. Continue west on Broadway past the intersections of Stadium Blvd, Fairview Rd, and Bearfield (Know that where Hy-vee and inumerable other commercial complexes now stand, there used to be only lazy cow fields - fun to jump the fence and explore so long as you didn't get caught!). Just past the intersection of Broadway and Bearfield and all the new houses, turn left onto Rothwell into the Rothwell Heights subdivision. Continue on Rothwell past the intersection of Defoe, then shortly down a gentle hill. At the bottom of the hill see a brown sign marking Rothwell Park on the right. Park along Rothwell near this sign.

Take the concrete path toward the wooden bridge. After checking out the playground, head across the bridge and pick a spot to eat your lunch. Then continue up the path which soon turns to gravel. Wind your way up past backyards with trampolines and screened in porches. Pass the Red Mulberry and the Chinkapin Oak. Soon, find an incredibly cool tree that used to be one of my favorites to climb, though there was not a convenient gravel path leading up to it. After scrambling up and having a look around, continue on the path as it curves up and around and begins to slope back down into the woods. Eventually, the path curves sharply to the right and takes you downhill. Notice a clearing on your left and a white drain pipe that runs under the trail. From the pipe, take 9 paces to the Pin Oak that stands straight while others reach out. Just to the right of the Pin Oak, find two small rock bound sapplings. See what growls out of this cradle.

Please replace all the rocks that hold this little devil in place and protect him from prying eyes and well-intended by unknowing woodland creatures who might remove him. You may also want to move from this spot to stamp in as it is right on the trail.
