The City of Chesapeake incorporated in 1963, formed by the merger of the city of South Norfolk and the County of Norfolk. Housing and roadways have sprang up alarmingly at an ever increasing rates.
In the late 1960's Interstate 64 was constructed in Hampton Roads. In this area of the city the Interstate continues to widen, taking out all living things in it's path. Greenbrier Farms used to be a very large nursery in the area. Now the area is home to industry and 'shopping.' Each May however, it hosts the Chesapeake Jubilee.
Begin your search at the site of the Jubilee. Entering the park on Greenbrier Road, it is suggested that you park at the large picnic shelter--#4. Think of Picnic Shelter #4 as the center of a clock. Facing the picnic shelter the boxes will be hidden at approximately 2:00, 12:00, 8:00 and 7:00. There is only 1 log book. It is at the last box.
Box 1, 2:00 (Missing as of 11/18/06)
Looking north you will notice what looks like 3 Wishing Wells. Walk across the field, head west on the road, 50 paces past the no parking sign at the exercise equipment. Search high and low to find your box. Please be careful retrieving and rehiding the box.
Box 2, 12:00
Follow the road as it runs behind the doggie park area. Once past the doggie park, turn left, keeping the split rail fence on your left. At the southern corner you will enter the woods. The trail is not clearly marked. Where the trail becomes iffy, look to your right, through the woods. Keep the railroad tracks to your right. Hiking the trail, keeping parallel to the tracks you will cross a ditch. Continue walking until picnic shelter # 2 is in sight. As you come up to the shelter, the VERY large tree contains your treasure. Don't be fooled--it is there--I check every week.
Box 3, 8:00
Once back out in the opening, follow the paved road past the caboose on your left. You might consider going for a cold drink. If not, you might be inclined to be an actor or actress on stage. That's all that's going to be said about this box. (I feel I must advise as no one has found first time out--there are 2 stages)
Box 4, 7:00
Keeping in mind that close only counts in two things--hand grenades and _____________________ begin your next search at the club sign. Fifty paces south of the sign search the shrubs for the box which contains the log in box. Your car should be in view. Again--this box has been there every time. Look straight in at the horseshoe pin. There are clues for a surprise box. The contents of the surprise box have turned up missing.
