This box is part of our "school mascot" series that we are working on. Others in the series so far:
- Spartan Territory
- Tartan Territory
Start from the West parking lot of the Scotts Run Nature Preserve. The West parking lot is on Georgetown Pike directly across Swinks Mill Rd. Walk up the stairs. At the top of the stairs bear right onto the path at 75 degrees. Follow this path until it comes to a fork. Depending on the season, there may or may not be a small stream at the fork. Bear left at 330 degrees which will take you across the stream. Once you cross the stream, walk up the hill approximately 35 paces. This should put you near the top of the hill. On the right side of the trail is a tree that is missing quite a bit of bark. From here, look over to your left at 300 degrees. There is a fallen tree about 14 paces away. Walk to this tree. There are many fallen trees in this area. You will know if you are at the right tree if the fallen tree lies in a north-south direction with its roots pointing south. Right by the roots of the fallen tree is a smaller tree with a tree of a much lighter color splitting off. Walk to the roots of the fallen tree. The box is hidden on the right side of the roots under some sticks and bark.
1 pace = 2 steps
Good luck!
