CALLOWAY GARDENS was our destination for Christmas 2006. The Christmas Lights are rated 3rd best in the U.S.A., and we were delighted with our visit to see them. We also enjoyed the Butterfly House and can hardly wait to see the gardens in the Spring.
To find "Joy To The World", begin at the Garden Restaurant, respecting their busy dinner hours. After parking in the parking lot, walk South and take the wooden stairs leading to the street. Cross the street, take the wooden bridge across the creek, and walk up the first short flight of stairs. Turn left (East) on the trail, and walk a short distance to a bench. Six steps behind the bench find 2 trees growing together at the base. Standing behind the trees remove the rock and find the JOY letterbox in the fork of the trees. After stamping, replace the box in its hiding place, carefully avoiding being seen.
There is a fee for entering the gardens unless you are staying in one of their facilities. The area is very well taken care of, and there are many things to do such as hiking, swimming, tennis and golf.
While you are there you also look for "Disney Lovers-Aurora and her Prince" and "Moonlight Through The Pines".
