The year is 1948. The place is Binghamton, NY. A young sports enthusiast and entrepreneur, with the financial backing of his grandmother’s savings, opens his first bait and tackle shop. Soon he expands his product line to include much of what we expect to find in a sporting goods store today. Now, with more than 250 stores, a little idea that began in Binghamton has spread across much of the country. Please feel free to bring some of Richard’s athletic equipment to use in Overbrook as you find his box.
Overbrook Recreational Facility
Overbrook Road, Johnson City, NY
Park in the lot and walk towards the adjacent ridge. Climb to the top of the ridge and follow it north. You will soon hit a clearing with an embankment and reservoir off to your left. Don’t go left; instead, keep heading north into the woods in front of you. At the entrance of the woods, walk 45 steps to a double-trunk evergreen on your right. From here look 50 degrees to find a large tree missing its better half. Richard resides under the better half.
