Negro Bill canyon is a deservedly popular hike in the Moab area with awesome rock walls and a wonderful creek in the bottom. This box is near the bottom of the canyon but be sure to hike all the way to Morning Glory bridge and find Kennamtn's lovely box.
From Moab take UT 128 going up the Colorado river for about 3 miles to the Negro Bill canyon parking lot. Hike up the trail to the BLM sign in box then another 35-40 paces past to a large rock on the right edge of the trail. From the rock look upslope at 30 degrees -- see a rocky ledge with a large juniper growing on the slope just above. Find a suitable spot to climb up to the jumiper tree being mindful of the cryptobiotic soil - don't bust the crust! Behind the tree under some flat rocks is the box.
Please rehide carefully.
