Harry thought ahead to the NeW year at Hogwarts. It was supposed to be his last year, but he was still not sure if he would attend. Hogwarts had been the GardeN in which his talents had grown, but it had also been full of dangers and threats to his life. Ron and he had not even been able to ParK the muggle car Ron’s father had modified, thanks to the whomping willow.

As he walked past the Northern corner of the muggle field that made him think of a Quidditch match, he noticed the post marked with the colors of Gryffindor and remembered how he had helped his house win through succcess in Quidditch. He turned right to follow the winding path to the southeast. After noticing a sign that didn’t seem to be 330 feet tall, he saw some muggle contraption to the left. “Windmills.” Harry made a mental note to ask Hermione about these before crossing a bridge over the creek. To his left he saw a sign next to a gazebo warning the students not to drink mead. Harry preferred butter beer, anyway. The gazebo was an inviting place, but Harry wanted to make sure he would not be seen by muggles. He continued to follow the trail around a horseshoe bend to the right and back to the left, pausing to look at the muggle ministry up on the hill. After following the trail up the hill a ways he muttered, “Silly muggles. That is NOT a giant bench.” He then took a pace for every year of his life. Looking to his right he spied a V tree off to the right about 100 feet away across a patch of wild ginger. Had he had a muggle compass, he would have known the V tree was at a bearing of 162 degrees. Walking through the brush to the V, he saw that it was actually a broken triplet, and sat on the broken third that was now touching the ground. As he sat and thought about the year to come, his thoughts returned to that day in Diagon Alley when he bought his wand. He knew that wand, and the information he had learned, would come in handy. He remembered the Potions book he had found last year and how the notes inside helped him with future challenges, even notes on the back cover of the book. He collected his thoughts carefully, making sure that his actions and his wand were not seen by muggles, and readied himself for the trials to come.
