*** Part of my Beer Series ***
Terrain Difficulty: Moderate (steep slope, 8km RT)
Recommended Ink: brown & red
Status: alive
John Molson founded Canada's oldest brewery on the banks of the St. Lawrence River in Montreal in 1786. Today, Molson is one of Canada's oldest consumer brand names and North America's oldest beer brand. With six breweries across the country, there is ample opportunity for you to taste this fine beer, but to find this box, you must visit Laughing Falls and work up a thirst. Takakkaw Falls is nearby and also worth a visit.
Directions:
From Field, go east 4km on Hwy 1 to Yoho Valley Road and turn left. Go 13km to the Takakkaw Falls parking lot and park at the far end. NOTE: The road to Takakkaw Falls is only open during the summer months give or take a few weeks, so you might want to check on it before going.
Clues:
Find the trail head to Laughing Falls at opposite end of parking lot from Takakkaw Falls trail and walk almost 4km to just before the falls. After walking near the river with some cascades you will come to a short 3-plank wood bridge. From the far side, look left for 3 small pine trees growing out of a large moss-covered boulder 4 steps off trail. The camo minibox is between the trees on the back side under a large rock supported by small rocks. Please rehide as described. You can continue on the trail a few hundred meters to a longer wood bridge across the river and view Laughing Falls before returning or going on to see Twin Falls several km further.
