This box was carved and created by Team New Hampshire and given to The Doctors B to plant in New York.
In keeping with the golf theme, the box is located down the hill from the golf course belonging to the famously luxurious Mohonk Mountain House. For more information, visit their website at http://www.mohonk.com/
Directions:
-From the NYS Thruway, head west on route 299 through New Paltz and across the bridge over the Walkill River.
-Just after the bridge, take a right on Springtown Road.
-Turn left on Mountain Rest Road. (Toward the Mohonk Mountain House.)
-Continue straight through the stop sign and then begin to watch for a pull-off on the right side of the road. This happens directly before a sharp left bend in the road. There is a sign at the pull-off that says "Mohonk Mountain House, 1 mile." If you actually reach the golf course, you've gone too far.
Park at the pull-off. In the trees along the field, look for a V-shaped twin oak on the downhill side of the pull-off. (This tree also has a lowered branch that I initially mistook for an additional, third trunk.)The letterbox is behind the crotch of the tree, tucked inside a hole, under debris.
Please re-hide carefully and enjoy the views! The golf course and mountain house are just up the hill and worth a visit. This is an especially beautiful drive on a clear fall day when the leaves are at their peak.
