Begin your journey at the Richard M. Nixon County Park. Maps are available at the park or you can get one here. http://ycwebserver.york-county.org/Parks/PDF/2006maps/RMN.pdf.
When entering the park, stay to your right and park in the Parking Lot on your right. This is a wonderful 161 acre park established in 1973. Stop in the Nature Center after finding your quest.
08/02/2010 A NEW LOGBOOK HAS BEEN PLACED IN BOX. PLEASE CONTINUE TO USE UNTIL BOTH SIDES OF THE CARDS ARE FILLED IN.
From the Parking Lot, look North and you will see wooden steps leading up to “Hardwood” trail. Follow the trail up the hill. You will come to an intersection where a path leads off to the right (Quiet Walk Trail). Do not take this trail, continue straight ahead and up the hill. You will come to a “T”, turn left to remain on “Hardwood”.
At the top of the hill you will see a sign on your left that marks the entrance to Nixon Park from William Kain park. As soon as you pass this sign you will come to a “T” which is marked as Trail #4. Turn left and follow the trail a short distance. You will start down the hill and come to a split in the trail. Hardwood Trail goes left and Lake Williams goes right.
From this intersection, turn around and walk back up the hill to the first tree on the left that has a green triangle painted on it (approximately 15 steps). Turn to your right and walk approximately 10 steps into the woods. There, between two dead trees, which are still standing, is a fallen tree with part of its trunk still connected to its base. Look inside and you shall find “WAY TO GO”.
