Note- as of Jan 1, 2020 our box is alive and well. However, we’ve had reports that it needs some TLC. If the next finder would replace the plastic bags, we would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
Queenstown is the adventure capital of New Zealand, and this Marylander took full advantage by bungy jumping off the Kawarau Bridge. To commemorate our trip to this beautiful and exciting part of the world, we planted a box in town which acknowledges our home state and guest country.
Clues: Find your way to the Queenstown Gardens. Start your walk on the paved path near the pedestrian bridge. A small stream will separate you from the cafe and playground. Head into the park with Lake Wakatipu on your right. When the path splits, follow the lower path on the right. Soon you will pass a huge boulder on your left. Keep going and soon you will come to the end of the paved path. At this point, where the path becomes gravel, take 80 steps (1 footfall to a step) to a green trash can on your right and a brown lightpole on your left.(As of 7-01-13, the green trash can has been removed.) Just beyond the trash can is a tree labeled "Lombardy Poplar". (As of 12-7-12: the Lombardy Poplar has been taken down.) Just next to the tree (used to be) is a multi-trunked tree with its branches leaning out over the rocks toward the lake. Right below the tree is a large boulder. Several smaller rocks wedged behind on the path side keep the Crab & Kiwi hidden from view. As always, watch out for prying eyes whilst searching and replace the box and rehide better than you found it.
Drop us a line and let us know about how you spent (or spend) your time in this most gorgeous of countries. Email us at girlguide195313@yahoo.com or through the lb.org site.
