Take By Pass 4 to Rt. 4. Turn Right on Rt. 4. The Rentschler Estates Forest entrance is on the left.

Turn left by the big old barn and park in the parking lot near the trail entrance. Enter here and follow grassy trail to the left. Follow trail straight towards a sign, which says Pond Trail. Follow the Pond Trail down a hill until you see a very thorny tree on you right. Next to this tree on the right there’s a short trail take this trail till it intersects to another trail and take that trail to the right. Continue right until you see a pond. Follow the path around the pond to the right. Follow the trail on the right on the other side of the pond. Once on the trail ahead of you on the left is a tree with a yellow metal circle. begin looking to your right just after that tree with the yellow circle with an arrow You will see a bundle of sticks and brush a few yards off the trail. Near this you will find what you are looking for. Please log in, and then replace everything back into the plastic baggie and then back in the container and hide back in the same spot.

This box was originally created in 2008 for my son’s Cub Scout troop. Ashton and I had so much fun picking a tin man stamp and hiding the box for the boys to find. In 2014 Ashton had a daughter and we replaced it when Basil was 6 months old. We chose a new stamp I believe it was another wizard of Oz stamp. Ashton passed away a year ago in 2023 this new letterbox was planted by her baby sister Maddie and her beloved Aunt Jodi in memory of our many hiking and letterboxing adventures. Please take care to rehide and enjoy the very special stamp we chose.

Updated this Letterbox was repaired and renewed on May 6, 2014. Original Name was Cub Scout Pack 969

We renamed it after my nieces Baby Basil who is 6 months old. She helped fix and plant the new one. Enjoy.

Renamed and replaced once again in Ashton’s memory April 15, 2024
