“Make It a Metro Park Day!”
Highbanks Metro Park
Lewis Center, Ohio
Est. November 1, 2008
(Park vehicle in southern-most parking area – the lot by the information/map kiosk)
•Begin by sitting on the David W. Bennett bench to examine the following clues.
o(If you’re resting on the bench enjoying the beautiful traits of the present season, then you are already following Mr. Bennett’s advice!)
•Enter the woods via the “trailhead” by the huge boulder.
o(You’ll know you’re correct if you can say “hey!” to Mr. Hutchins on your way in to the rolling woods)
•Veer RIGHT at the first intersection (Purple arrowhead)
•Veer RIGHT (again) at the next intersection
•Go LEFT at the FIRST smaller path that you meet
oContinue until you encounter some “reverent markers”
•With your back to the “highest Pool” notice the small, lesser-traveled path that follows next to the large “giants of the forest” trees
•Take this path until you reach a tight grouping of three Oak trees with their trunks nearly touching
oBeware of the barbed wire!
•With your back to the NORTHERNMOST (highest uphill) of the three Oaks, take a bearing of 27 degrees
•Walk in that direction until you encounter a clumping of SIX small trees (2 dead/4 alive)
•Search around upon the ground, and hidden well you shall find the object for which you came!
