Near the intersection of Kansas Highways 50 and 56 is a sweet little free museum and park. There's all kinds of stuff to look at (though spending more than an hour here would require some fortitude on your part) including a big train engine, the museum and nearby Saint Nicholas Cemetery.
From the men's room door walk 14 steps in the opposite dirction of the quirky looking windmill. Under the railroad tie whose spike points toward the windmill is the "box" Please be conscientious about findind ing and rehiding gently. This one will disappear very soon if boxers aren't careful with rehiding well.
A piece of info you don't need to know, but that I found amusing is that the big sign upon which the stamp is based states mileage of 1561 to both San Fransisco and New York. Just for a hoot I punched both locations into my GPS and it said that San Fransisco was 1200ish miles away and New York was 1300ish miles away. My GPS could certainly be wrong, though that seems like a rather dramatic difference from 1561. I had written down the actual numbers to NY and SF, but the wonderful and sometimes powerful Kansas wind blew my handwritten clues out of my car during another stop in nearby Garfield. Some poor farmer is going to find my clues and wonder what it's all about. Hope your time in Kinsley is enjoyable.
