This is the second of what was seven stashes (or is it 'staches?) hidden in uptown Waterloo. Unfortunately, a few of the boxes have gone missing, so there's only 4 left. The boxes are placed such that you could do all of them in an afternoon, if you park at Uptown Waterloo Square and walk or bike to each location. For this particular clue, there is parking available on the street near the intersection where your adventure begins. These boxes are hidden in somewhat visible areas, so please use great stealth in retrieving and replacing them. Have fun!

HERE IS WHERE THE ADVENTURE BEGINS....

Once upon a time there were two princesses whose mother, a once famous movie star, had died in childbirth. The youngest sister was a quiet and bashful child who rarely left her father's side, while the eldest was a headstrong and feisty rapscallion who hungered for adventure and heroics. Thus, the King was cross with the eldest sister, because she persistently refused to conform to the strict expectations of a person of royal heritage.

It therefore came to pass that the the eldest sister set out on an adventure to find the lost treasure of the Golden Laurel and return it to her people. It was her most sincere hope that this would prove her worthiness, earning the King's respect and praise. In order to conceal her true identity and convincingly pass as a wayfaring soldier abroad, she dressed in men's clothes, donned a moustache and armed herself appropriately. Thusly outfitted, she started out with the setting sun behind her, throwing her fate to the winds...

... NOW FOLLOW IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF OUR MOUSTACHIOED ADVENTURER!

She walked past a tavern with a Scottish name, as well as a house belonging to a cowpoke and a cherub, then met up briefly with a Latin queen who was traveling the other way. The queen mentioned that many of her staff had reported seeing lights shining in the sky near the river at night...

Continuing onwards, the eldest sister passed a giant who was carving himself out of stone, followed by a windmill. The Norseman working at the windmill told her a story about a golden treasure buried in the roots of the world tree called Ygdrassil...

Eventually, she came to a T in the road, although straight ahead lay a shortcut to the river. However, the flat plain yawning out before her was clearly marked as the land of the Men O' Night, a fearsome band of Agrarians. Gathering together all of her courage, the eldest sister took a deep breath, straightened out her spine, and walked swiftly across the plains.

As she approached the river, she noticed a small unpaved path just off to the right, heading down to the water. She walked down this path, recalling the words of the queen and the Norseman. At the bottom, off to the left, were two boulders marking the entrance to this strange place. As she breathed in the earthy mist rising from the water, she felt compelled toward the knotted and gnarled old tree to her right. Suddenly, she saw it! Lo and behold – there in the roots – was the treasure...
