Make your way to the main entrance of Oak Hill Cemetery in Georgetown, DC. Follow through the gate so the chapel remains to your far right. Follow the fence line on your left behind an angel and the anchor. Once on the stone landing at the bottom of the long staircase, turn and face the direction you just came from. Under the left side of the 2nd or 3rd stair tread/stone is what you seek. There is no logbook with this letterbox. I couldn’t find anything small enough on the short notice I planted however, there’s a stamp and ink.
BE SURE TO REHIDE WELL AS THERE IS A WONDERFUL CARETAKER WHO KEEPS A WATCHFUL EYE ON THE ENTIRE CEMETERY. PHOTOGRAPHY IS NOT PERMITTED SO IM NOT SURE IF HE WOULD APPROVE OF OUR LITTLE HOBBY. : )
Anyhow, let me know what you think and enjoy the tranquility of this beautiful sanctuary.
