Terrain Difficulty: Easy (flat, 400 yards RT)
Status: alive
The USS Alabama was commissioned in 1942 and served in World War II in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. She was decommissioned in 1947 and assigned to the reserve duty, then retired in 1962. In 1964, she was taken to Mobile Bay and opened as a museum ship the following year, but to find this microbox you will need to go to Bayfront Park. A bird lover's paradise, this park is part of the Alabama Coastal Birding Trail and is a relaxing place to visit.
Directions:
From I10 in Mobile, go south on Hwy 98 for 1.6 miles, then right on Main St. Take another right on Bayfront Drive which takes you to Bayfront Park.
Clues:
Take boardwalk to left of pier until it joins a gravel road. Turn right and go back along outside of boardwalk the way you came 8 steps to a multi-trunk tree. The microbox is within under rocks and leaves. Please replace as described.
