On Cape Elizabeth, follow the signs to Fort Williams/Portland Headlight Park. Go to the Lighthouse Parking lot. Follow the walkway toward the lighthouse, and to the right of the it, you will see coin-operated “viewers” and the memorial to the Crew of the USS Eagle-56. (Optional: Have a moment of silence to give thanks to the men and women who serve to defend our United States.) Move toward the lighthouse and on the left, look for a round rock garden. Look for a triangle rock, evergreens and beach roses (with rose hips!) Carefully, - beach roses are endangered in Maine- go into the alcove of evergreens. At the base of one of those trees, you will find the beacon.
