Trail difficulty: Mostly easy on dirt trails; a little moderate the last few yards or so for each letterbox

This series of letterboxes is in John F. Kennedy Park in far southwest Tucson, Arizona. From I-19 take Exit 99 and go west on Ajo Way for about 1.5 miles. Go right (north) on La Cholla Blvd. for about 0.3 miles. Turn left (west) onto the second park entrance road and drive to the end of the paved road and park there.
Arizona Glossy Snake Letterbox: From the end of the paved road, walk south on a dirt road. When you arrive at a paved parking area, turn right (west) and walk through the "Explorer Trail" trailhead opening in the fence. Walk up to a dirt road and turn right (north). Walk to the 3rd yellow caution sign on the left. From the sign, go at about 200 to 212 degrees (from mag. north) for about 52 steps to a large Jojoba Bush. The box is under its east side under a flat rock covered with some plant debris.
Hooded Oriole Letterbox: Return to the dirt road and turn right (south). Go back to the first yellow caution sign (the first one you came to when you were walking north). Turn around and go north on the road for about 30 steps. Look left for a moderate size flat leaning boulder a few yards off the road and behind a Palo Verde Tree. Behind it about 5 steps is a Creosote Bush. The box is under the north side of the bush under a flat rock.
Tarantula Hawk Letterbox: Return to the dirt road and turn right (south). Go back to the intersection (I call this the “original trail junction”) with the trail you came up on from the trailhead opening in the fence. Turn right (west) on dirt trail. When it arrives at a wide dirt road/trail, turn right. Where the trail makes a significant right turn in a small gully, go at about 40 degrees for about 23 steps to a Palo Verde Tree with 2 Jojoba Bushes and a Barrel Cactus under its back side. From this Palo Verde, go at about 40 degrees for about 39 steps to a tall armless Saguaro Cactus with a Jojoba Bush at its back left side. The box is under the left side of this Jojoba under a flat rock covered with some plant debris.
Kit Fox Letterbox: Return to the “original trail junction” and turn right (south). Continue straight past dirt roads coming in from both right and left. Go to the next yellow caution sign. From that sign, go at about 330 degrees for about 53 steps to a tall narrow Saguaro Cactus with several tiny bulbous arms on its west side. From that Saguaro, go at about 320 degrees for about 13 steps to a Jojoba Bush. The box is under its east side under a flat rock covered with some plant debris.
Please please be sure the contents are double ziplocked when you put them back in the boxes (ie. the stamp is in a ziploc, the book is in a ziploc, and the two are in the larger ziploc bag). Please rehide the boxes well under the rocks, twigs, and plant debris so that they can not be seen from any direction
These letterboxes were placed for the 9th Annual Tucson Letterboxers Gathering.
