Olneya is the genus name for the Ironwood Tree. This desert tree is very attractive when it blooms having numerous lavender-colored flowers.
Drive on State Highway 79, the Pinal Pioneer Parkway, between Florence and Oracle Junction. Heading south from Florence, after passing mile marker 118, continue for 0.4 mile more to a dirt pullout on the right (west) side of the highway. Or, driving north from Oracle Junction, continue for 0.6 mile past mile marker 117 to the dirt pullout on the left side of the highway. Park there.
Walk west on the dirt road heading towards a large Ironwood Tree at the fence line. When you arrive at another dirt road, turn right and walk for about 24 steps. Look left to a Creosote Bush on the berm. The box is under the backside of the bush covered with some flat chunks of concrete covered with some plant debris. Be very alert for snakes -- they have been seen near the box!
Please please be sure the contents are double ziplocked when you put them back in the box (i.e. the stamp is in a ziploc, the book is in a ziploc, and the two are in the larger ziploc bag) and put all of it INSIDE the box. Please rehide the box well under the rocks and covered with some plant debris so that it can not be seen from any direction.
