Walking distance: about 0.1 mile one way
Trail difficulty: easy, the path is dirt but flat.
The answers to the questions in the clues for this webbox are located in Fort Laramie National Historic Site in south-central Utah. Letterboxes are not allowed to be physically placed in national parks, national monuments, national historic sites, and other sites administered by the U. S. National Park Service. So, I have created this webbox. You must actually visit the area of the clues; however, you need to go to the Web to obtain your finders stamp.
From U. S. Highway 26 in the town of Fort Laramie, turn south on State Highway 160 and drive 3 miles to the Fort Laramie National Historic Site. Park in the lot at the end of the access road which is on the edge of the fort.
Look for the large colorful interpretive sign across from the southeast edge of the parking lot titled “Fort Laramie … Crossroads of a Nation Moving West”. In the first paragraph (starts with the words “Fort Laramie was perhaps…”), in the 2nd line, what is the 3rd word?
Now, walk to the south corner of the fort and look for the interpretive sign titled “Between Two Worlds…the American Metis”. In the 2nd paragraph on the right (starts with the words “All but forgotten…”), in the 2nd line, what is the 10th word?
To create the mystery word, put the word from the second question on the end of the word from the first question (without spaces). Paste the mystery word (all letters lower case) into this URL (replacing the question marks “???” with the mystery word):
http://nostalgia.esmartkid.com/???.html
Now, plug/paste/type the new URL into your web browser and you will have completed your search for the Fort Laramie Historic Site Webbox.
Please record your find at www.letterboxing.org/ .
