From the front parking lot, travel the paved entrance toward Lake Loretta. You will see a log cabin on your right. Did we stash our Brownies in the kitchen? No way! Not that easy. Continue to the patch in front of the lake and turn left.
Follow the path, winding left to the West. Go to the first trail map sign and take the trail directly behind you. Watch for exposed tree roots on the patch, especially if you are searching in the fall and the path is covered with leaves. Go up, up, and up until you reach the top and you see a gate. Stand in front of the gate. Stop and take a minute to catch your breath. We are not done climbing yet.
After you have stopped gasping for air, turn right and continue up the hill. Go to post #73.
There will be a path at 220 degrees, follow that path to post #70. The path will curve to the north. Continue to post # 65.
There will be a patch 270 degrees from the post. Follow that path. Go do post #57. Turn right at the patch junction. Continue to post #50.
Facing the post marker, take a bearing of approximately 150 degrees. Do you see the big rock? The Brownies are not there, but they are close. See the twisty tree at 150 degrees? It has a rotting stump wrapped around its base. Our Brownie Stash is under the stump. Be sure to check for wildlife before putting your hand into the stump. You never know who is looking for our Sweet Little Brownies!
Hike length: 1-2 miles
