Maxie Anderson was born on September 10, 1934 in Sayre, Oklahoma, but eventually moved to New Mexico and owned his own mining company in Albuquerque by age 29. Along with his friend Ben Abruzzo, he became interested in ballooning and they eventually became the first to cross the Atlantic in a balloon. With his son Kristian, he made the first non-stop trans-North American balloon flight in 1980, but was killed on June 27, 1983 during another balloon trip in West Germany. He is buried in Sunset Memorial Park, where you can find this box.

Directions:
From I25 go west on Menaul Blvd NE for 0.3 mile then left on Lombardy Dr into Sunset Memorial Park. Go left on Esperanza and park in small lot on right across from the Centennial Garden.

Clues:
Walk east on Esperanza to a gravel path and continue on it to Best Friends Forever section. Go through trellis to a rock wall and turn right along it to wood pole near fence with bushes. LB is at back of pole under a rock and leaves. I couldn't find his grave, so if you do please let me know directions so I can add to these clues.

Hike length: 0.1 miles
