Mr B grew up in Mangere Bridge - looking back now it was a great place and time to be a child with plenty of options to explore and play. Two favourites for Mr B and his friends were Mangere Mountain - especially an area we called 'Kiwi Canyon' and another area we called ' The Creek'.
This cache starts off near the place we called 'Kiwi Canyon' (now a shadow of its former self with all the trees removed and overgrown by grass) and takes you on a trail around 'The Bridge'. You will go past his primary school, the library and shops (where he spent quite a few hours playing video games in the 'Spaces' store during the 80's) and onward towards 'The Creek' where you will find the final letter.
If you are up for it, you will get quite a good walk doing this cache and final does loop back towards the start point or take a bike and explore the area a little more as Mr B did back in the day. Otherwise you can drive between the waypoints and you will find good parking near all of them.
To find this letterbox you must find the letters that have been left for you. On them it will have the Bearing and Distance to the next letter - so you will need a method to figure this out.
To help, we suggest you use this tool: https://www.geocachingtoolbox.com/index.php?lang=en&page=coordinateProjection
Enter the given coordinate (at the first waypoint: S 36° 56.859 E 174° 47.350) and then each projected coordinate from there on and add the Bearing (Angle) and the Distance (in metres) to find the next letter.
The final is at S 36° 56.ABC E 174° 47.DEF
On each letter you will find stamped in the top right hand corner one of the capital letters shown above with a number next to it. Record all of these numbers to work out the coordinates to the final - also ensure you record the lock code on the final letter to ensure you can access the letterbox which has a combination lock on it.
The final which is a large mailbox with both letterboxing and geocaching sections. There is a unique New Zealand stamp for your logbook, hope you enjoy this letterbox.
