Terrain Difficulty: Difficult (steep slope, 15K RT)
Recommended Ink: brown, yellow, red & blue
Status: alive
Timbered Hanseatic warehouses and gabled wood buildings colored rust-red and ochre line the quaint quay of Bryggen wharf, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and are instantly recognizable as a symbol of Bergen. Enjoy the view from sea level, then from above as you look for this box on the Vidden Trail from Mt Ulriken to Mt. Floyen. Be sure to hum the Beatles song of the same name as you walk.
Directions:
Go to the Tourist Center next to the Fish Market to get a map of the hike and tickets for the Ulriken Express bus that will take you to the Ulriken Cable Car, and a ticket to ride it to the top to begin the hike.
Clues:
Walk on the trail following signs toward Mt Floyen to a cairn on the trail across from the War Memorial monument, about 100 meters to the left. This is about half way through the hike. Walk toward the monument 8 steps to rock ledge with LB at base under rocks. Continue on to Mt Floyen for more great views, then follow the trail and streets down to City Center.
Hike length: 8+ miles
