A few things to know. Parking is $5 and you will need a credit or debit card to get a parking ticket to display. They have two paying parking kiosks. The fee will cover you for that day until sunset/park closes. Take a trail map or you may download one from http://www.thetrustees.org/places-to-visit/berkshires/monument-mountain.html
Follow the instructions to find the letterbox “Hike2Monument”
Take the Hickey Trail leaving right (north) from the parking lot. This is a steep trail where you will enjoy many beautiful forest views. Continue on Hickey Trail for 1.7 miles until you connect with Squaw Peak and Indian Monument Trails. Find the inscription rock to your right. Read the inscription on the rock and then walk behind the inscription rock. Look for a small stone sticking out of the inscription rock. No need to pull out the small stone but you may able to find and pull out the red cover letterbox from either the left of right side of the small stone. Congratulations, you found it.
Please leave a note on the notepad and pencil provided with your name, date found, where you from and a note.
