Roaring Brook Nature Center - Lower Cut Across Letterbox LbNA #74885

There are two ways to get to the Lower Cut Across trail (White Blazes).

Route One:
Walk up to the building and look to the left and you will see a path that has stairs going down.
Go down the stairs and go to the right. Follow the Werner Pond Trail (Red Blazes). You will
cross a bridge going over the Werner Pond. Continue on the Werner Pond Trail by taking a
right. You will pass a log bench (boy scout project). Keep following the trail until you reach a
clearing with benches. A little after the clearing, on the right there is the Lower Cut Across trail
(White Blazes). It looks like a small path and around the entrance is a fallen tree that has been
cut into pieces. (Continue with directions below ‘Route Two’).

Route Two:
Walk up to the building and go to the right. There are a few picnic tables and there is the Werner
Pond Trail (Red Blazes). Follow the Werner Pond Trail until you see a clearing with benches. A
little before the clearing, on the left there is the Lower Cut Across trail (White Blazes). It looks
like a small path and around the entrance is a fallen tree that has been cut into pieces.

Follow the Lower Cut Across until the trail turns right. There is a group of three trees connected
and one of the trees has two white blazes. At the tree, go to the left to the hill of large mossy
rocks. Go behind the largest rock which is on top of the hill. Look at the back of the rock. Look
on the ground a few feet to your left. There is a triangle shaped rock next to a tree. There is an
opening to the right. The letterbox is in the opening/cave.
Please make sure you securely put everything back in the box and bags and put it back in the
hiding spot.

To get back to the Nature Center go back to the Werner Pond Trail and continue following it.
