There is a lesser known entrance to the trails at Brooksvale Park at the end of Julian Drive in Hamden. Use this map for the most recent trail updates: http://brooksvale.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Brooksvale-Trail-Map.pdf. Park at the end of Julian drive, avoiding the areas marked by no parking signs.
Head down the trail, marked blue, to the first junction. Turn right onto green and go about 20 steps. Look left toward the two sister tree next to the rock. Behind it is a beech tree with a rock just behind it. Go to that rock and look behind for On the bus. Return to the blue trail, turn right on blue to continue.
When you get to the junction of orange and blue, stop and look ahead for the orange/black blazed tree. Just past that is a large flat rock and a stump just behind that. About four feet left is a rock, behind which you will find At work.
Return to the junction of orange and blue and turn left onto the orange trail. A few minutes down orange you will see a very very large broken beech tree. The top is now laying on the ground. Just past the beech is an egg shaped rock about 35 steps off trail. At the dog park is behind the egg shaped rock. Go back to the orange trail and continue on.
You will come to a junction with the green trail, before turning, stop and look back over your left shoulder for a multi sister tree about ten steps off the orange trail, with a line of rocks heading away from it. Go to the last rock and look under for At the store. Return to the orange trail and the junction with green.
Turn right on the green trail. Pass several multi sister trees trailside and when you pass a very large multi sister (4?) on trailside left with a knee high boulder just past it, stop and look trailside right. There is a corner of two low rock walls, with a property marker next to the tree at the corner. On the trailside of the tree is a rock with an overhang. Look there for At the park.
Continue on green. It turns right, crosses an old stream bed, and then passes through the first of several rock walls. About 15 feet past the wall. Look right to a knee high boulder right behind a stump. Look behind the boulder for At school.
Continue on green to the junction with blue, turn left to return to your car.
