Go to Brighton and travel through the city on Bridge St (also Highway 7) until you reach 27th St. Travel south on 27th St until you get to Southern St. Begin traveling West (toward the mountains) on Southern St until you see Benedict Park on your right. Park your car in the parking lot near the south entrance to the park. Follow the ditch trail on the eastern-most side of the park (called Fulton Ditch Trail). The Fulton Ditch Trail passes through the entire park, so when you have time, check out the rest of the trail.
Walk north from the Fulton Ditch Trail closest to the parking lot on Southern Street, go north to the northeast section of the park. There is a triangle-shaped garden there. Look for the sundial. Look for the letterbox hidden in the juniper tree to the east of the sun dail.
If you decide to walk the trail from the west side of the parking lot, it will lead you to the same place, but you'll pass a school playground, skate park, several gazebos and shelters, cross the bridge over the Fulton Ditch and into the small garden. The garden is filled with bushes, trees and the sun dail. Once you've found the treasure, please take only one item as a souvenir.
Hike length: 1-2 miles
